LEAVING NWIRP AND SEATTLE
It is very difficult to leave an organization that you love and a city and region that have been so good to me. I have created a new family here and I will miss them very much…
I hope that folks will invite me back to be at conferences or to speak or perhaps just to listen. Once I wake up Saturday the 21st and can get dressed I will hit the road going south.
I have yet to sell the FAMOUS TAXI….and will be sad to leave this place with out my taxi….
VIRGINIA TECH
I like all am still shocked by the killings at the university. Too many of our students and youth are carrying a lot of pain and we can’t seem to find enough ways to reach them. Suicide is too high amongst our youth and we must not wait until we have a major horrific event happen before we do the right thing.
In Virginia like so many places it is much to easy to get guns …guns that were designed for killing humans not for hunting…We must address this issue of GUN CONTROL…and face down the NRA…(national rifle association).
The parents and family and friends of these students will be forever changed by this event. And I pray for them …
At the same time this horrific event is multiplied every day in IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, THE SUDAN, and so many other places. Violence has never been the answer for the resolution of issues. Every time that we destroy the center of a community we create a whirlwind of pain that can become equally destructive if not healed. Healing is not easy but it can be done…
DREAMING A BETTER WORLD…
This world of ours needs dreamers… people who will dare to dream a better world. ..people who are risk takers ..those who will take a risk in order to change their world…
Anyone can do this …you just have to be willing to take a step towards freedom.
MAY 1st
A time to march and raise your voice for Immigrant Rights
In many cities across the country there will be marches where immigrants, refugees, their friends, family and supporters will take to the streets once again. Today it is most important that all of us participate in this historic effort…
While there is a debate in Congress on immigration reform, HOMELAND SECURITY continues to increase its sweeps and arrests of immigrant tearing families apart. We can not be silent. We must contact our elected officials and let them know that we want REAL COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM….
At the same time we must continue to educate those in our community to understand the plight of Immigrants and their families. We must be willing to listen to the fears of individuals and then carefully educate them about America’s past and the wonderful future that awaits us all
So make your signs, get your flags and get ready to march on May 1st, which is also International Workers Day and celebrated around the world…
SPRING TIME IS FOR FLOWERS AND GRADUATION …
This 30th of April I will sit along with many parents at FIU (Florida International University) and watch our loved ones get their diplomas. My daughter Aviva is graduating and this is most exciting.
While flowers bloom I will celebrate along with many others at graduations across this country as loved ones complete one phase and get ready to move on to another phase of life.
My mother on occasion would refer to her children as her flowers. My mom had a green thumb and could make anything grow..She never told me when I was a child if I was a tulip, a rose, or perhaps a morning glory . Later in life my mother would refer to me as her Wondering Jew (I am sure this is not the formal name for this plant) which was a plant she had that grew and spread out in various directions. That’s been the story of my life, spreading out my wings and touching many worlds.
I love spring time and in particular the wild flowers that bloom on hill sides and drive some of us crazy with all of their pollen. The flowers are so beautiful and wonderful and just another miracle of Mother Earth.
Enjoy all the flowers of this world

Ahora..The British Returned ..4-7-2007
Written by magdaleno on April 7, 2007 – 12:22 pm -Dear Sisters and Brothers
The other day I went to see some friends receive awards and to hear some wonderful speakers on the environment at Seattle University. It reminded me of all the good environmental work being done which is in fact human rights work given it protects all living things on earth.
We must do all we can to protect MOTHER EARTH and support those who fight the awful assaults on the environment by this current administration.
NOW FOR MY VIEW OF THE NEWS
a. British marines
b. Che
c. Taxi for sale
d. Drivers needed
e. La fiesta
f. Conference on world affairs
————————————————————————————
British Marines released
It was good to see that British Marines were released and sent home. What made this possible was diplomatic efforts not the saber rattling that our White House does much too often. What caught my attention was that none of them were tortured.. none were given electric shocks, none were beaten…The Iranians seemed more humane than the USA…
————————————————————————————————-
CHE QUEVARA
The other night I went for dinner at a friend’s house and found a wonderful photo of Che signed by the photographer who was the key documenter of the Cuban Revolution. It is the most incredible photo and was tempted to put it under my shirt and walk to my car. But I love this couple and would never want to lose their friendship but it was most tempting..
——————————————————————————————
THE SALE OF THE FAMOUS TAXI
I am selling my 1997 Crown Victoria (a Ford). It is a wonderful car, but needs some work to pass inspection …it is orange and a former taxi….It has about 185,000 miles.
In the past two years many individuals have hailed me thinking I am a taxi driver and when I don’t stop they give me half of the piece sign…THE ONE FINGER SALUTE…others have asked for directions thinking that as a cab driver I might know more than they. And are they ever disappointed.
This vehicle has been to a diversity of events and some monumental marches…It has also traveled to Oregon on occasion…
So if you know someone who would want a vintage historical car it is available for $500 or the best offer.. Have them call me at 206-310-2102
————————————————————————————
LOOKING FOR DRIVERS
I will be traveling to Florida in a Dodge Minivan leaving Seattle on April 21st. I am looking for friends who might want to join me on one of the legs of the journey ….I will be going south to California…and plan to stop there to visit the CESAR E. CHAVEZ CENTER in Keene. Then I will go south to Arizona picking up HIGHWAY 10 and will follow that through El Paso, San Antonio, New Orleans and Tallahassee. Then I will go south to Miami,
So if you have time and want to have some interesting conversations contact me.

It attracts about 150 speakers from all over the world and some 50,000 participants will attend the many workshops. I love being on panels with those who may not agree with me…it is a challenge and a wonderful opportunity for creative dialogue.
TIME FOR A HUG OR A SMILE
Take a moment and hug some on you care about….visit a sick friend …smile at a stranger …. Call some who needs an encouraging word…and give a little of yourself. I know that you will get a lot more in return than what you give…
