RECOGNIZED FOLKS IN JAIL OR ON THERE WAY…

ALONG WITH SOME OTHERS NOT SO WELL KNOWN

THE QUESTION IS ….WHO DESERVES TO BE IN JAIL

La Paris

Paris Hilton went back to jail ….I wonder how many other individuals with the same crimes were let out by Sheriff Baca using the  medical issues or overcrowding…Paris in being led out of the court room called out MOM and THIS IS UNFAIR……too bad that she has not been to a real demonstration to learn a CHANT or how to make a political statement. I hope she and her family get help …before it is too late…recently it is rumored that she has found religion..

I know a lot of gang members who violate probation and no one seems to care about them…and their jail time…being rich does not make you better…by the way she violated her probation twice..

One alternative is for the judge is that he could make her serve some of her time doing community service with an organization like ours which has most humble offices and works in behalf of the poor. Just a thought…

SCOOTER LIBBY

Well his case is on appeal…and should he have to go to the slammer then you might see G W giving him a pardon…if he does go to prison then I suggest that he get a new name…SCOOTER is not a good name to have when you are locked up…and again if they give him community service than I would again take him and have him work for social justice…just a thought …

What Scooter and this administration have done is take us to an unjust war where we will spend more than a trillion dollars and lose the lives of our soldiers and way too many innocent individuals in Iraq and Afghanistan…Scooter lied to cover up the other lies of this administration and he deserves more than what they are giving him ..And it’s too bad that all the others who got us into this foolish and unjust war will never do jail time.

——————————————————————————————

ASPIRATIONAL

But as we all know what Scooter did is so much worse than all these other individuals did on these individuals accused of these sensational ASPIRATIONAL CASES  of so called terrorism …we now have three aspirational cases in New York, Miami, and New Jersey… these were aspirational not operational cases…in most cases it will turn out that folks were just jawing and talking trash…mark my word …. in the end I doubt anyone will be found guilty of terrorism…BUT THEY WILL ALL FOR SURE SERVE MORE TIME THAN LIBBY OR PARIS…

IMMIGRATION BILL PLACED ON HOLD

The debate had gotten bitter and again Immigrants and their families were being demonized by many politicians and much of the media. I was surprised that some supposed allies would accept such harsh amendments..

It is clear that some would like to have no bill so that they could continue to bash and beat immigrants through out the 2008 elections.

There is an outside chance that the debate on the Senate Bill could be re-started but I fear a BAD PIECE OF LEGISLATION..but I am willing to be part of the fight for a better bill

Seems that Bush is trying to get his party in line which can only mean more punitive measures. for immigrants..

Caribbean Faces and Voices

It is wonderful seeing the many Caribbean Faces with the wonderful accents… it makes it so rich to be in a community of diversity.

GOT A HAIR CUT

So I needed a haircut and chose a place ..a unisex beauty salon where I watched a young man cut and comb the hair with much artistry and decided he should cut my hair ..I waited twenty minutes only to find out that he had to wash a woman’s hair..the woman had  a bad red dye job and  was wheel chair bound…she  was just getting her pedicure finalized…she was there with her husband who seemed so kind and attentive it was nice to watch the two of them…and I was glad that she would get all the attention she deserved

After the rejection I walked north a block  in LITTLE HAVANA where I found a barbershop operated by a Cuban woman..she was careful not to cut too much off and trimmed my eye brows which were sort of getting the Frida Khalo look.

A woman religious leader noticed that  night at a meeting for farmworkers that I had cut my hair and let me know how good I looked.

LA SELVA NEGRA (the black forest) a Nicaraguan Restaurant

Today I had a great experience at this restaurant…lots of good Nicaraguan food and I must share this place with others..

Reminded me of when we lived in Managua…

BULGARIA AND BUSH

It was so funny/tragic seeing Bush being mobbed by hundreds of Bulgarian Citizens. ..here is country no one remembers that sent 125 of its mighty soldiers to Iraq…I am sure that they got millions in foreign aid for the lives of their citizens…this country of  7 million seemed very hungry for attention …

Bush can not get this kind of response from any group in the USA not even the military…they know that this is a man who has lied and allowed too many people to die for his foolish war.

I hope that nothing happens to Bulgaria for hosting Bush…but it is clear he is not an icon for good things to come…

ALMOST GOT CAUGHT SHOPLIFTING…

I was busy at a Walgreen’s Pharmacy  close to my office when I got an unexpected call from my nephew David Avila …He is in prison in Sterling, Colorado. He has been serving ten years of hard time and at last he gets a chance to do some calls.

It was great to hear his voice and talk to him as I was shopping …I continued to talk to him as I paid the clerk for my medicines..I was giving my nephew a lecture about obeying the laws and regulations of prison when I noticed that I had walked out and had not paid for some vitamins in my shirt pocket …

I mentioned to David that I had walked out with out paying … he laughed wondering why the buzzer did not go off…I walked back in and told the cashier that I owed her for the small bottle of promises…she questioned how I got it out of the store but appreciated that I had come back to pay…David listened to this exchange and it turns out to be a good workshop…LIVE…

I am sure that David will share this story with friends there at the prison….laugh and saying that his uncle almost got busted for shoplifting.
